Who we are?
VICSRAPID is a statewide, non-profit, community- based organisation, formed in 1986 to enhance the lifestyle of people with disabilities through access and choice of opportunities in the community sport and recreation, providing a particular focus on athletes with an intellectual disability for participation in competitive sports at national and international levels.
What do we do?
VICSRAPID
- provides information and referral statewide
- maintains a membership base
- maintains an athletes' database
- conducts community and peer education programs
- provides presentations, speakers and information/
- visual displays
- provides consultancy and in-service training
- facilitates inclusion and participation of people with disabilities into activities, sports programs and events
- assists students with disabilities in their sport development
- co-ordinates talent identification clinics
- facilitates pathways to compete at state, national and international levels, and classification in sport, for athletes with an intellectual disability.
Who benefits?
People of all ages with disabilities, families, carers, support workers, members of general public, and groups/organisations (including disability community, sports and recreation)
